Ranchero's Restaurant
The restaurant industry sees a lot of ups and downs. It can also be incredibly demanding, which is why successful restaurants are often run by the people who really love what they do. At Ranchero’s Restaurant, co-owner Maria Mendez and her partners thrive on creating classic dishes, being innovative, and making sure each component of the restaurant runs smoothly. On any given, you may find the owners at the host stand, running the front of the restaurant, or in the back focusing on their menu of classic Mexican cuisine with specializations on the carnitas they make fresh almost every day.
According to Maria, at Ranchero’s, “We cater more towards families. We very much like the family feeling. We want this to feel like another home except where we make it more comfortable.” The restaurant has been in Mead for 10 years and has seen a loyal customer base and significant growth. Maria credits a lot of the growth from the restaurant’s location, “it's also one of the greatest spots because there's traffic all the time. There's people coming, there's people going, and it's not just your locals. We're in a spot where people coming out of state drive by. People going to some of the biggest attractions that Colorado has to offer.”
Maria also talks about the benefits of being located in Mead, “When we came in to Mead, we got the support since day one. We've hit hard times. When COVID hit, the town came and saved us right away. So you feel that support. They make you feel like home basically.” According to Maria, during COVID, locals ensured that Ranchero’s stayed open with ordering take-out, sometimes multiple times a week. They also supported the business through sharing ideas, including better utilizing the outdoor patio space.
Today at Ranchero’s you can find events from live music to karaoke and more. The restaurant also does special celebrations and events like Cinco de Mayo and Mexican Independence Day. Patrons looking to host their own event can rent out the event space or outdoor patio.
