Leanin’ Tree
Leanin’ Tree, a greeting card company that recently celebrated its 75th anniversary, moved to Mead in 2024 and has recently started operating out of its new facility. Known for its original Western-themed art greeting cards, the company continues to expand its artistic offerings and types of cards while staying true to its values of sustainability, community, and connection. CEO Nick Anderson reflects on the business, “The whole greeting card industry, it's all about relationships, and building community and connections with people. And as a business, it's very similar.”
After signing the lease for their new location, Anderson reached out to the Town of Mead, unsure of what to expect. He was surprised by the enthusiastic response. "They welcomed us with open arms. They invited us out to town hall for lunch, and we got to meet the mayor and some other city officials. We talked about the history of the company and learned more about the town of Mead," he shares. The company is excited to continue building connections throughout the community, including with other businesses.
Leanin' Tree’s new headquarters is also strategically located. Anderson explains, "The location's ideal. It's right off 25. We’re super close and it’s an easy path to get to the airport. It’s convenient for employees whether they're in Fort Collins, Boulder, or Denver. We even have some employees in Aurora who can zip up the tollway." The location also serves its shipping and supply needs with trucks able to make a quick delivery or pick-up right off the freeway.
Sustainability has been a cornerstone of Leanin' Tree’s operations for years. "Leanin' Tree was a leader in sustainable cards and recycled paper, but it's something that's been ingrained in the company culture for a really long time. And from a commercial standpoint, it also resonates with customers," says Anderson. An employee-owned company, Leanin’ Tree also makes its company culture a priority, “What really makes it unique is the team. We've got a lot of really experienced people that have been here for 30. Even some people have been at Leanin’ Tree for 40-plus years.”
With a new home and a strong sense of community, Leanin’ Tree is poised for continued success, creating meaningful connections one card at a time.
